Our Tree Maintenance Services

Trees need to be cared for and attention to help them to flourish. Here are our top tips to keep yours healthy and looking their best!

A Spring Clean

Deadwooding, fertilising, mulching is essential steps to take in spring to keep the tree viable.

Inspection

Your trees can fall victim to extremes of the weather during the winter seasons, so it’s always best to keep an eye on them. Structural integrity is essential, looking for fungal fruiting bodies or cankers lesions.

Coming into Leaf

During winter months, it is always worth checking whether your trees are coming into leaf (bud swell), this can be an indication that your tree is struggling or even dying.

Disease and Pests

Familiarising yourself with common pests and different types of diseases is a good idea; when inspecting your trees regularly, it’s a good idea to have an awareness of what to look out for. We can help you initially and can intervene if you think there is something serious affecting your tree.

Mulch

Mulch can be used to get rid of weeds and help your garden to retain moisture. While this is, in principle, a good thing, you should be careful not to lay mulch, so it is in contact with the trunk of the tree as too much moisture can lead to harmful fungal growth.

Pruning

The ideal time to prune your ornamentals is during winter/spring when your trees system is becoming active, you can remove damaged branches or dead branches in the spring to help encourage new growth in time for the latter part of spring and the summer. Ornamentals are trees that thrive after an effective pruning.

Fertilising

A good quality slow-release fertiliser will help your trees to stay healthy and build up their natural defences against pests and disease.
Build this into your gardening routine.

Watering

It might sound obvious, but a good quality watering regime is essential and not just during the summer months. In the winter, it can be very dry, and water repellent soil can lead to less water being absorbed.

Planting

Spring is a great time to plant new trees; what better way to enhance your garden? Again, we can help you with this; we can help you to find the perfect spot.
