If a tree is being brought down/removed the Arborist may use a pair of spurs attached to his feet to climb the tree, but if only a limb is being removed or the tree is being dead-wooded then the Arborist will use a method that uses only a rope and harness to climb the tree.
When a climber uses spurs he is putting a spike/hole into the trees system and so if the tree is not coming out he may put a few hundred holes in the tree by the time he finishes the work resulting in pathogens or insects entering the trees system.
So if the tree is to be removed, spurs can be used.
If the tree is having work performed, rope and harness to be used.
Why Hire a Qualified Arborist?
Arboriculture is the cultivation and management of trees within the landscape. This includes the study of how trees grow and respond to cultural practices and the environment, as well as application of cultural techniques such as selection, planting, care, surgery, risk reduction also surveys, reports and removal.
An arborist or arboriculturalist or tree surgeon is a professional in the practice of arboriculture, which is the management and maintenance of ornamental or shade trees. Work can include tree surgery and also care of trees and other perennial woody plants. An arborist is distinct from a forester, or from a logger. Those professions may have much in common, but the scope of work is different. Arborists frequently focus on health and safety of individual trees, or wooded landscapes, rather than managing forests or harvesting wood.
Tree Lopping: – Lopping is actually a form of pruning. Lopping and topping is a very severe form of pruning which involves removing all branches and growths down to a few large branches or to the trunk of the tree. Arborists will not recommend lopping.
